Access Strategies
The Code of Practice for Part III of the DDA makes it quite clear that when assessing a building or external environment, there is much more to consider than just a programme of access audits and physical alterations. This is why an Access Strategy is such an effective tool for pulling these additional issues together when reviewing a property estate. Areas such as training, consultation, implementation, management, monitoring, integration and complaints procedures require a joined up approach that crosses departments and budgets and transcends any existing tradionally historic segregation within a business or organisation.
An Access Strategy is a more than just a statement of intent. It is a positive way of documenting the existing and intended plans of a business or organisation in light of their duties under the DDA. It should be a working document that is subject to review and consultation under an appropriate set of timescales.
We are highly experienced in developing bespoke Access Strategies for any type of portfolio client from Retailers through to Government departments.
